Alexander Betty is an environmentally conscious company run by two sisters, Charlene and Millie that designs accessories for the modern day woman; the confident, multi-faceted, powerful, independent, dynamic and elegant woman who is intentional about her environmental and societal impact. Alexander Betty is an accessory line inspired by shapes and textures found in nature and aspects of African culture translated to encompass a more global, modern-day form of self-expression; timeless inspiring uniquely crafted pieces.

While in college studying Biology, Charlene began learning how to create her own jewelry pieces to replace the cherished items she kept loosing. Coincidentally Millie with a background in Information technology wanted to work in a company whose impact would contribute to the social and environmental good of their community.

A trip down to a local bead store downtown, lead to a discussion on their interest in creating a line of accessories that would not only embody their definition of fashion but would be both sustainable and ethically made. The rest, as they say, is history, this is how Alexander Betty came to be. The name Alexander Betty was chosen as a tribute to their two siblings who passed away. We both felt it symbolizes key family values which we aspire to incorporate as company values too.

Alexander Betty is produced in Kenya by working with a versatile team of local artisans most of whom we strive to be women or self-help groups. All wages paid are fair and agreed upon, for all work done. Raw materials we use include, but are not limited to, brass, aluminum, and Ugandan cow horn; which we recycle, upcycle and re-purpose, and precious stones sourced from mines in Africa.
